Miss Alie's Story

Art and science have always been a passion of Alessandra's, so opening up Athena Enrichment and Dance Academy is a dream come true for her. She began her dance training at the age of 3 taking ballet, tap, jazz, and gymnastics at Ms. Debbie's Dance Studio. This small taste of dance sparked that drive to become a ballet dancer. Later at 9, she began extensive ballet training at Rowland Ballard in Kingwood, TX under the eye of Cheryl Rowland. In her teenage years, Ms. Alie trained at American Academy of Dance in Spring, TX under the tutelage of Angela Jackson, Kerry Godkins, and Barbara LeGault. Here she danced in many classical ballet roles including Princess Florine (Bluebird) in The Sleeping Beauty, Dew Drop, flower, snow flake, lead Spanish, Arabian, party parent, peppermint, and Russian in The Nutcracker, along with contemporary pieces choreographed by Robert Mills (former artistic director of Oklahoma City Ballet). At American Academy of Dance, she was a member of the pre-professional ballet company, Houston Dance Theatre. As a member she attended many Regional Dance America festivals and performed multiple times in their Gala which is the highest honor of RDA. She also danced with Gilbert Rome's Studio of Dance under the tutelage of Gilbert Rome, Amy Beatty, and Victoria Vittum. Ms. Alie also attended summer ballet intensives on scholarship at Joffrey Midwest, Walnut Hill School of the Arts, and Point Park University where she was taught by great ballet master teachers such as John Magnus, Judy Rice, Gillian Murphy, and Ethan Stiefel. At 18, Alie moved to Pittsburgh to dance at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre in their Grad Program where she danced with the company under Terrance Orr, Majorie Grundvig, Marianna Tcherkassky, and Janet Popeliski.

As an adult, Alie attended and graduated from University of Houston with a bachelor's of science degree in Teaching and Learning with a specialization in middle school science. She taught 4th grade Reading and Writing in HISD for two years and sixth grade science for 5 years. Science is a passion of hers and she loves mixing ballet with her knowledge of physics and anatomy in the dance classes she teaches. She also guest performed in many roles of the Nutcracker at her home studio American Academy of Dance and as the Sugar Plum Fairy at Texas Academy of Dance Arts. She has spent the last six years teaching at and running the ballet program at The Moriah Davis School of the Arts and choreographed a Nutcracker for the Ballet Company there.

Alie has a passion for teaching dance and strives to create skilled and knowledgeable dancers. She is incredibly excited to start this new chapter of her life with her own academy!
